What precautions should be taken when using highway joint sealant

In recent years, many road cracks in China have become increasingly serious, and road joint sealant has become a commonly used material for repairing road cracks. The manufacturer of sealant provides us with a brief introduction to the usage methods and precautions of highway sealant.

Firstly, according to the design requirements, use a road slotting machine to crack cracks, adjust the width and depth of the slotting machine, and move as much as possible along the centerline of the crack, so that both sides of the crack are cut and the edge of the crack is removed. The aging material has exposed new surfaces on both sides of the crack to ensure that the joint grouting adhesive of Daogong can better bond with the road surface.

When slotting in front of the slotting machine, use a high-pressure gas blowing device to clean the cracks to remove dust, debris, and loose objects around them, ensuring the cleanliness of the cracks. Check if the bottom and wall of the crack are moist. If it is significantly damp, the cracks must be dried using a hot air spray gun. Heated road cracks will slightly darken and heat up.

Afterwards, we will fill and seal the road joint adhesive. The road joint sealant must be heated to a temperature between 185 ° C and 195 ° C to completely melt, and then grouting and sealing work can be carried out. Firstly, use a joint filling machine to heat, mix, and melt the highway joint filling adhesive, then transport it out through an asphalt pump pipeline and pour it into a clean tank. The filling work should be carried out continuously, and the grooves should be completely filled from the bottom to the top, and bubbles should be avoided in the lower part of the filler.

After the crack is filled, it usually takes about 20 minutes for the highway grouting adhesive to fully solidify before opening the traffic flow. The time will vary depending on the temperature at the construction site. If you are in a hurry to open up traffic, you can also sprinkle fine-grained materials such as river sand, lime, steel sand, etc. after pouring road joint glue, so that you can open up traffic without waiting.
